Twins 5, Orioles 3
Drew Butera drove in three runs and Francisco Liriano tossed six-plus strong innings as the Minnesota Twins handed the reeling Baltimore Orioles their eighth straight loss with a 5-3 road triumph on Monday.
Danny Valencia had two hits, drove in a run and scored twice for Minnesota (6-10), which has won two in a row after losing four straight.
Butera opened the scoring in the second inning after his double to right field plated Michael Cuddyer and Valencia. Valencia scored Delmon Young on a groundout in the fourth, and Butera added a run-scoring single in the ninth.
The offense proved to be enough for Liriano (1-3), who secured his first victory of the season after permitting two runs on five hits in 6 1/3 innings. Jose Mijares and Jim Hoey bridged the gap to Matt Capps, who worked around Luke Scott's solo homer in the ninth for his second save of the season.
Adam Jones led off the seventh with a homer and Matt Wieters added a solo shot two batters later for Baltimore (6-9).
Chris Tillman (0-2) permitted three runs and six hits in 6 2/3 innings.
