Matt Wieters had two hits, knocked in four runs and scored three times, and Jake Arrieta pitched six shutout innings as the Baltimore Orioles broke an eight-game losing streak with an 11-0 victory over the visiting Minnesota Twins Tuesday night.
Brian Roberts and Vladimir Guerrero each knocked in three runs and added two hits for Baltimore (7-9), which outhit Minnesota 13-6. Robert Andino had three hits, while Adam Jones and Derrek Lee added two each for the Orioles.
Arrieta (2-1) gave up four hits, striking out four and walking three for the victory.
Twins starter Carl Pavano (1-2), who pitched eight shutout innings in his last start, gave up eight runs on eight hits in 4 2/3 innings. Michael Cuddyer had two hits for Minnesota (6-11).
Wieters started the scoring with an RBI single in the second inning and came home on Roberts’ two-run single that gave Baltimore a 3-0 lead. Wieters also scored on a Roberts RBI single in the fourth. The Orioles scored four in the fifth inning, highlighted by Wieters’ three-run double.
Guerrero hit a three-run homer off reliever Joe Nathan in the eighth.
