Orioles 5, Twins 4
Matt Wieters continued his hot hitting with a two-run home run and the Baltimore Orioles held on for a 5-4 victory over the visiting Minnesota Twins on Wednesday night.
Vladimir Guerrero belted a solo homer and Adam Jones had a two-run double to back rookie Zach Britton (3-1), who pitched six solid innings, allowing three runs on five hits.
Danny Valencia went 2-for-4 with three RBIs and Michael Cuddyer hit a solo homer for the Twins, who were again missing Joe Mauer, Justin Morneau and Delmon Young from the lineup.
The Orioles jumped out to a 4-1 lead in the second against Nick Blackburn (1-3) when Jones ripped a two-run double down the right field line and Wieters slammed a two-run shot two batters later to give him seven RBIs in the first three games of the four-game set.
Blackburn was charged with five runs on seven hits in seven innings.
Guerrero's solo homer in the third made it 5-1, but the Twins pulled within 5-4 on Valencia's two-out, two-run single in the sixth and two-out, RBI single in the eighth.
Kevin Gregg recorded his second save but not until Denard Span flied out to the warning track to end the game.
