Orioles 4, Mariners 2

Chris Tillman outdueled Felix Hernandez with six strong innings and Adam Jones tripled in a pair in a 4-for-4 night as the Baltimore Orioles stopped the visiting Seattle Mariners, 4-2, on Wednesday.

Derrek Lee and Luke Scott each added an RBI for the Orioles, who have taken the first two games of the series after dropping four in a row.

Tillman (2-3) allowed just one run on three hits while striking out five and walking three. The 23-year old righthander was coming off an outing at Kansas City last week in which he was reached for eight runs in just 3 2/3 frames.

Hernandez (4-3) got his customary level of run support but was not quite as sharp as normal, lasting just five innings while being charged with all four runs on seven hits. Handed a 1-0 lead in the third, Hernandez immediately allowed the tying run on Lee’s sacrifice fly in the bottom of the frame.

The Orioles piled on in the fifth, going ahead on Scott’s RBI single and making it 4-1 when Jones drove a triple to deep right.

Kevin Gregg struck out two in a perfect ninth to earn his seventh save.
