Nationals 4, Orioles 2

Jordan Zimmermann continued his red-hot June, pitching into the seventh inning as the Washington Nationals secured their eighth straight victory with a 4-2 triumph over the visiting Baltimore Orioles on Saturday afternoon.

Zimmermann (5-6) allowed a pair of runs on eight hits over 6 1/3 frames to improve to 3-0 with a 1.32 ERA in four starts this month. He has gone at least six innings in each of his last nine outings.

Drew Storen worked a perfect ninth inning for his 17th save of the year.

Mike Morse led the way offensively with a two-run homer as Washington equaled its longest winning streak since August 2009. Morse now has 13 home runs on the season, two shy of his career high set in 2010.

Morse's blast to deep right field in the seventh inning off Brian Matusz (1-2) broke a 1-1 tie and put the Nationals ahead for good. Ryan Zimmerman added his second homer of the campaign and first since returning from a DL stint that cost him two months of the season.

Matusz was charged with four runs on six hits over 5 1/3 innings, walking three and striking out five.

Adam Jones' 10th home run of the season was the lone bright spot for the Orioles, who lost left fielder Luke Scott to back spasms in the fourth inning. He is considered day-to-day.
