Indians 8, Orioles 4
The visiting Cleveland Indians drilled two first-inning homers and handed the Baltimore Orioles their eighth straight loss with an 8-4 decision on Thursday.
Cleveland snapped its own three-game skid by defeating the Orioles for the fifth straight time and 10th in 13 outings.
All-Star shortstop Asdrubal Cabrera belted his 15th homer of the season and Carlos Santana followed with a two-run blast against Jeremy Guthrie (3-13). Justin Masterson (8-6) went six innings for the win, allowing four runs on eight hits.
Cabrera entered the series with a .359 career average against the Orioles, then went 2-for-5 with two RBIs. Travis Hafner reached base four times for the Indians.
Baltimore opened its 10-game homestand without manager Buck Showalter, who was suspended one game by Major League Baseball for his part in last Friday’s bench-clearing brawl in Boston. Bench coach John Russell replaced Showalter.
