Orioles 4, Twins 1
J.J. Hardy and Matt Wieters belted solo home runs and the visiting Baltimore Orioles snapped a five-game losing streak with a 4-1 win over the Minnesota Twins on Monday night.
Orioles rookie lefthander Zach Britton (7-9) allowed one run in five innings to end a personal five-game skid and win for the first time since June 8. He was 0-3 with a 24.16 ERA in his previous three starts.
Nick Markakis had a pair of hits, including a run-scoring double that gave him five multi-hit games and eight RBIs during an eight-game hitting streak for Baltimore.
Hardy put the Orioles ahead to stay in the fifth inning with his fourth career homer in 16 games against Minnesota, which lost for the fourth time in five games.
Twins starter Carl Pavano (6-10) dropped his fourth decision in a row to remain winless since July 7. He gave up four runs on nine hits in seven innings.
Michael Cuddyer, returning to the lineup after missing nine games with a neck injury, had two hits for Minnesota.
