White Sox 8, Indians 3
Gordon Beckham led a second-straight offensive explosion, as the Chicago White Sox soundly beat the Cleveland Indians, 8-3, Saturday at Progressive Field.
Beckham had three hits and scored three times in Chicago's 15-10 win over the Indians in Friday's opener and was again the catalyst Saturday. He went 2-for-4, including a two-run single in the second inning off Cleveland starter Carlos Carrasco that helped the White Sox (2-0) jump out to a 5-0 lead
Cleveland (0-2) answered with a three-run second off Chicago starter Edwin Jackson, highlighted by Travis Hafner's lead-off home run and a two-run single by Jack Hannahan.
The White Sox extended their lead on Juan Pierre’s RBI single in the sixth and tacked on some insurance with Carlos Quentin’s two-run double in the seventh.
Jackson (1-0) picked up the win, allowing two earned runs on five hits over six innings. The right-hander struck out seven and walked four.
Carrasco (0-1) took the loss, surrendering seven earned runs on 10 hits in 6 2/3 innings.
