White Sox 4, Rays 2
A.J. Pierzynski's two-run double provided the difference as the White Sox held on for a 4-2 victory over Tampa Bay on Saturday afternoon in Chicago.
The Rays (1-7) took a 1-0 lead on an RBI double by Ben Zobrist in the second inning, but Chicago tied it in the bottom of the third when Morel scored on a Gordon Beckham sacrifice fly. An inning later, Morel legged out a hit with the bases loaded against Wade Davis (0-2), plating Paul Konerko to make it a 2-1 game.
Pierzynski's bases-loaded poke to right field in the seventh inning proved to be valuable insurance when Tampa Bay's Felipe Lopez led off the ninth inning with a home run to center.
Philip Humber (1-0), making just his third career start, allowed just four hits and one earned run in six innings of work before giving way to the bullpen.
