Angels 6, White Sox 2
Alberto Callaspo drove in three runs and Joel Pineiro pitched 7 2/3 strong innings to lead the Los Angeles Angels to a 6-2 victory over the Chicago White Sox on Tuesday.
Callaspo had a two-run single in the opening inning and singled in another run in the third as Los Angeles jumped to a 5-1 lead en route to breaking Chicago’s three-game winning streak.
Pineiro (2-0) gave up two runs and eight hits before leaving with two on and two out in the eighth. He struck out five.
Fernando Rodney retired Paul Konerko on a grounder to end the eighth and Scott Downs pitched a perfect ninth.
Torii Hunter singled in the Angels’ first run in a three-run first against John Danks (0-6) and Maicer Izturis hit a solo homer in the third.
Danks gave up six runs and 10 hits in five innings.
