Diamondbacks 4, White Sox 1

Daniel Hudson pitched his first career complete game and hit a run-scoring double against his former team to lead the Arizona Diamondbacks to a 4-1 victory over the visiting Chicago White Sox on Friday.

Hudson (8-5) gave up one run and three hits while winning his fifth straight decision. His double to deep right field in the seventh drove in the first of two key insurance runs. Kelly Johnson followed with a double to score Hudson.

Hudson recorded 15 outs on grounders while outdueling Chicago starter Edwin Jackson (4-6), who allowed four runs and eight hits in 6 2/3 innings. Hudson and Jackson were traded for one another last July.

Hudson, who struck out five, allowed just one hit through six innings before Paul Konerko led off the Chicago seventh with a booming homer to left-center field. The homer was Konerko’s 17th of the season. Hudson’s RBI was his sixth of the season, the most among major-league pitchers. Hudson retired 16 consecutive batters during one stretch until Alexei Ramirez reached on Stephen Drew’s error with two out in the sixth.

Arizona tallied twice in the first inning with Justin Upton singling in one run and scoring on Miguel Montero’s double to right-center field. Upton reached base four times on three hits and a walk.
