White Sox 6, Rockies 4 (10)

The visiting White Sox rallied from a late 4-1 deficit to beat Colorado 6-4 in 10 innings Thursday, taking the rubber game of the series.

Alexei Ramirez doubled off Clayton Mortensen leading off the 10th, and A.J. Pierzynski reached on an infield hit. Mortensen misplayed a bunt, loading the bases. After a forceout at home, Juan Pierre delivered a two-run single to right, his third hit.

Chicago's comeback spoiled a fine effort by Rockies starter Aaron Cook, who found his sinker and allowed one run over six innings. Cook outdueled Jake Peavy, who was coming off his first career relief appearance.

Troy Tulowitzki’s three-run homer in the first put Cook on track for his first win, but the bullpen couldn’t hold it, allowing Gordon Beckham’s solo homer in the seventh and two more runs in the eighth. Beckham went 3-for-3 with two RBIs.

Rockies first baseman Todd Helton, playing in his 2000th game, went 2-for-5 with a run scored. Earlier Thursday, Colorado acquired Oakland second baseman Mark Ellis for minor league pitcher Bruce Billings and cash considerations.

Sergio Santos earned his 17th save.

The White Sox headed home for a weekend showdown with the Cubs at Wrigley Field, while the Rockies will entertain the Royals.
