Royals 5, White Sox 3

Matt Treanor's two-run single snapped a tie in the sixth inning and Felipe Paulino recorded his first victory of the season as the visiting Kansas City Royals posted a 5-3 victory over the Chicago White Sox on Tuesday night.

Alcides Escobar ripped a two-run triple in the second, and Billy Butler and Jeff Francoeur scored twice for Kansas City, which snapped a nine-game skid against American League Central rivals.

Paulino (1-6) allowed three runs on nine hits and struck out a season-high nine in six innings. He was making his seventh start for the Royals after being designated for assignment by the Colorado Rockies.

Louis Coleman tossed two scoreless innings to bridge the gap to Joakim Soria, who put two runners on base before getting the third out for his 14th save of the season.

Jake Peavy (4-2) yielded five runs and six hits in six innings.

Paul Konerko had three hits - including a solo homer - and drove in two, and All-Star Carlos Quentin had an RBI single for Chicago, which fell for only the second time in seven outings.
