Royals 2, White Sox 1 (11)
Alex Gordon scored on a wild pitch in the bottom of the 11th inning to lift the Kansas City Royals to a 2-1 victory over the Chicago White Sox on Wednesday night.
Gordon drew a two-out walk against Chris Sale (2-1) and Mitch Maier followed with a base hit to put runners at the corners. Sergio Santos came on in relief and threw a 3-1 slider in the dirt which catcher A.J. Pierzynski could not handle.
Aaron Crow (3-2) held the White Sox scoreless in the 10th and 11th innings.
Chicago's John Danks gave up five hits and a walk, and struck out six over seven shutout innings, while Bruce Chen allowed four hits and a walk in eight innings. Chen benefited from four double plays.
Carlos Quentin led off the fifth by driving a 1-0 pitch from Chen into the left-field seats to give the White Sox a 1-0 lead.
The Royals tied it in the eighth on an RBI double by Jeff Francoeur, but left the bases loaded.
