Rangers 7, White Sox 4
Mitch Moreland hit a pair of home runs and matched a career high with five RBIs as the Texas Rangers rallied for a 7-4 road victory over the Chicago White Sox on Friday.
Josh Hamilton also went deep for the Rangers, who maintained a six-game lead over Los Angeles in the American League West. Texas is 7-1 on its 10-game road trip.
Yoshinori Tateyama (2-0) tossed 2 2/3 scoreless innings in relief of Matt Harrison and Neftali Feliz worked a perfect ninth for his 25th save in 31 opportunities.
The Rangers fell behind 3-0 after two innings before staging a two-out rally in the fourth to surge ahead. Michael Young began the uprising with a single and scored on Nelson Cruz's double, and Moreland belted a three-run shot two batters later.
Chicago pulled even in the fifth, but Texas got to Jake Peavy (5-6) again in the sixth to take the lead for good. Hamilton led off the inning with his 16th homer of the season and Moreland hit a two-run blast – also his 16th – later in the frame to cap the third multi-homer game of his career and first this year.
Juan Pierre scored a run and drove in another for the White Sox, who fell five games behind first-place Detroit in the AL Central. Chicago has lost three in a row and is 3-4 on its nine-game homestand.
