White Sox 10, Rangers 0
Gavin Floyd tossed seven stellar innings and Alejandro De Aza drove in three runs as the Chicago White Sox pounded out 16 hits en route to a 10-0 home victory over the Texas Rangers on Sunday in the rubber game of their three-game series.
The defeat cut the Rangers' lead atop the American League West to four games over the Los Angeles Angels, who beat Baltimore 7-1.
Brent Lillibridge and Alex Rios homered while Juan Pierre had two RBIs for Chicago, which remained five games behind first-place Detroit in the American League Central. The White Sox, who finished 5-4 on their nine-game homestand, had seven players with at least two hits.
Floyd (11-10) entered the seventh with a two-hitter but exited after allowing a leadoff single by Yorvit Torrealba, who also singled in the fifth. The righthander walked one and struck out six in improving to 5-1 over his last seven starts.
Lillibridge highlighted a four-run third inning with a two-run homer off Derek Holland (11-5), who lost for the first time in nine outings. Konerko made it 5-0 in the fourth with an RBI single, his 1,999th career hit.
Chicago added three runs in the eighth as Rios belted a two-run shot and De Aza, who had a two-run double in the third, added an RBI single.
