Royals 7, White Sox 6
Eric Hosmer's RBI single in the bottom of the ninth inning lifted the Kansas City Royals to their sixth consecutive victory, 7-6 over the Chicago White Sox on Friday.
Chicago, which has lost six in a row, tied it 6-6 in the eighth on a two-run homer by Brent Morel.
Alex Gordon started the Royals' ninth with a base hit against Matt Thornton (1-5). Billy Butler was intentionally walked following a sacrifice bunt, and Hosmer drove a 0-1 pitch over the head of White Sox left fielder Juan Pierre to end it.
Greg Holland (5-1) got the win after holding Chicago hitless in the ninth.
The Royals took a 5-2 lead in the fourth when Jeff Francoeur delivered his second RBI single of the game and scored on Mike Moustakas' home run.
Kansas City starter Felipe Paulino allowed three runs, seven hits, walked three and struck out three in six innings. Philip Humber gave up six runs - five earned - in six innings for the White Sox.
