Indians 11, White Sox 2

Asdrubal Cabrera hit a three-run homer and had five RBIs to lead the Cleveland Indians to an 11-2 win over the visiting Chicago White Sox on Thursday night.

Cabrera, who missed Wednesday's game with a sore back, hit his 25th homer in the seventh. The blast set a franchise record for home runs in a season by a shortstop. Cabrera added a two-run single in the eighth.

Jeanmar Gomez (5-2) won his fifth straight start, allowing two runs in six innings. He has a 1.80 ERA in his winning streak.

The victory moved the Indians 1 1/2 games ahead of the White Sox for second place in the American League Central. Chicago won 11 of the 18 games in the season series.

Kosuke Fukudome started the game with a home run and added a tie-breaking, two-run single in the fifth off Philip Humber (9-9).

Jason Kipnis followed Fukudome with a solo homer in the first. Travis Hafner doubled in the seventh for his 1,000th career hit.

Chicago tied the game in the fifth on Juan Pierre's RBI single and Cabrera’s throwing error, before Cleveland took command.
