Jason Giambi and Troy Tulowitzki each homered to back seven strong innings from Ubaldo Jimenez as the visiting Colorado Rockies edged the New York Yankees 4-2 on Friday night in the opener of a three-game series.
Jimenez (3-7) won his second straight start, holding the Yankees to two runs on four hits. He struck out seven and walked four.
Huston Street worked around a one-out single in the ninth for his 23rd save of the season.
Todd Helton added an RBI single to help the Rockies move above .500 for the first time since May 24 with their seventh win in nine games.
Yankees starter A.J. Burnett (7-6) tied a major league record by striking out four batters in an inning in the loss. He allowed four runs on seven hits in 6 1/3 innings.
Giambi, who spent seven seasons with New York, homered, singled and scored a pair of runs to send the Yankees to only their fourth loss in 14 games.
Alex Rodriguez drove in both runs for New York with a double in the first inning and a sacrifice fly in the third.
