Astros 3, Blue Jays 2
Hunter Pence hit a tiebreaking two-run homer in the fifth inning as the Houston Astros upended the host Toronto Blue Jays 3-2 in the rubber game of their three-game inter-league set Sunday.
Pence's blast to left field off losing pitcher Kyle Drabek (3-3) was his first homer since May 9, and just his second for the month. He added a single in the seventh for his fourth straight multi-hit game.
Pence made a winner out of Astros starter Wandy Rodriguez (3-3), who allowed two runs on six hits over six innings. The lefthander walked three and struck out six.
Rodriguez's best work came against major league home run leader Jose Bautista, who finished hitless in three at-bats against him while striking out twice. Bautista is 1-for-15 with eight strikeouts all-time against Rodriguez.
The Blue Jays loaded the bases in the ninth inning, but Mark Melancon got Aaron Hill to ground out to third base for for his second save of the series, and third of the year.
Drabek was tagged for three runs on eight hits over six frames, walking three and striking out three.
Juan Rivera and J.P. Arencibia homered in defeat for the Blue Jays.
