Braves 2, Blue Jays 0

Tim Hudson allowed only two hits in eight scoreless innings and smacked a two-run homer to lead the Atlanta Braves to a 2-0 win over the Toronto Blue Jays on Monday at Turner Field.

Hudson (6-6) struck out eight and walked one. He retired 20 consecutive batters from J.P. Arencibia’s one-out hit in the second until he walked Mike McCoy on four pitches to lead off the ninth inning. He was pulled in favor of closer Craig Kimbrel after Yunel Escobar’s infield single put runners on first and second with no outs.

Kimbrel then struck out the next three batters to earn his 20th save.

Hudson homered to deep left off Toronto starter Ricky Romero (6-7), who allowed only two runs and six hits in seven innings. It was the second homer of Hudson’s career, his first since 2009, and produced his first two RBI of the season.
