Braves 5, Blue Jays 1
Mike Minor allowed one run in seven innings and struck out eight as the host Atlanta Braves defeated the Toronto Blue Jays 5-1 on Tuesday.
Minor (1-2) retired the last ten batters he faced before turning the game over to the bullpen as Eric O’Flaherty and Jonny Venters each pitched a scoreless inning.
The Braves broke a 1-1 tie with three runs in the third. Brian McCann hit a two-run homer, his team-leading 12th, and Alex Gonzalez drove home Dan Uggla with a two-out double to left field.
Rookie Zach Stewart (0-1), who was making his second major league start, allowed five runs, 10 hits and three walks in 3 2/3 innings.
