Pirates 7, Blue Jays 6
Rookie Alex Presley hit his first major league homer and had his first three RBIs as the visiting Pittsburgh Pirates held off the Toronto Blue Jays 7-6 on Tuesday.
Andrew McCutchen added a solo homer and Matt Diaz had three hits for the Pirates, who have won five of six.
Presley, who was called up when Jose Tabata was placed on the disabled list Monday, made his presence felt in the third inning of his season debut when he belted a 3-2 pitch from Jo-Jo Reyes (3-7) into the seats in right for a two-run blast. Presley added an RBI single in the fourth as Pittsburgh stretched its lead to 6-1.
Kevin Correia (10-6) pitched six innings to tie for the major league lead with his 10th win and Joel Harahan worked the ninth for his 23rd save in 23 opportunities.
The Blue Jays pulled within a run in the seventh when Corey Patterson and Edwin Encarnacion led off with back-to-back solo blasts. Toronto loaded the bases with one out after that, but Jose Veras came on and got Adam Lind to line into a double play.
The Blue Jays finished with four homers, including two by Encarnacion and Jose Bautista's 24th of the season, which matches the major league lead.
