Indians 2, Mariners 1

Justin Masterson struck out nine and gave up only four hits in 6 1/3 innings as the Cleveland Indians won their sixth straight game, 2-1 over the host Seattle Mariners on Saturday.

Cleveland (6-2) scored two runs on a fourth-inning sacrifice fly while sending Seattle (2-6) to its sixth straight loss.

Chris Perez struck out two in the ninth, including Ryan Langerhans for the last out, to pick up his third save of the season.

The Indians had the bases loaded with one out in the fourth when Orlando Cabrera hit a sacrifice fly to left to score Asdrubal Cabrera. Milton Bradley threw to third base and the ball kicked toward the Cleveland dugout. Pitcher Doug Fister attempted to keep the ball from rolling into the dugout, but was unsuccessful as Shin-Soo Choo scored on Bradley’s error.

Masterson (2-0) left with one on and one out in the seventh, and reliever Rafael Perez allowed a run-scoring single to Michael Saunders for the lone run charged to Masterson.

Masterson walked one and struck out two in each of first three innings.

Fister (0-2) gave up two runs – one earned – and six hits in six innings for the Mariners.
