Wily Mo Pena hit a two-run pinch-hit homer with two outs in the bottom of the ninth inning to give the Arizona Diamondbacks a 6-4 victory over the Cleveland Indians on Tuesday.
Pena’s homer off Tony Sipp (3-1) snapped Arizona’s three-game losing streak.
Cleveland’s Carlos Santana hit a two-run homer with one out in the ninth off J.J. Putz to make it 4-4.
Arizona took a 4-2 lead in the eighth on run-scoring singles by Kelly Johnson and Justin Upton.
Cleveland jumped out to a 2-0 lead on pitcher Josh Tomlin’s RBI single in the fifth, his second hit of the game.
Arizona scored in the fifth when Gerardo Parra tripled for one of his three hits and scored on pitcher Daniel Hudson’s double. Johnson tied the game with a homer in the sixth.
Hudson gave up two runs and six hits in eight innings. Alberto Castillo (1-0) got the final out in the ninth in his first appearance for Arizona.
Tomlin allowed two runs and five hits in seven innings. He is the first Cleveland pitcher with two hits in a game since CC Sabathia in 2007.
