Tigers 8, Athletics 3
Miguel Cabrera and Carlos Guillen hit two-run homers during a six-run fifth inning as the Detroit Tigers rolled to an 8-3 home triumph over the road-challenged Oakland Athletics on Tuesday.
Victor Martinez and Austin Jackson each recorded two hits and scored twice for Detroit, which had totaled eight runs over its previous four games.
After Oakland grabbed a 3-1 lead in the top of the fifth, the Tigers rallied in the bottom half against Guillermo Moscoso (3-5), who had allowed just one earned run over his previous four starts.
Cabrera followed a sacrifice fly by Magglio Ordonez with his 20th homer of the season for a 4-3 edge and Guillen belted his first home run of the year three batters later. Since returning from knee surgery, Guillen is 4-for-10 with three RBIs in three games.
Rick Porcello (9-6) won his third straight outing, yielding three runs over six innings.
Hideki Matsui had two hits and two RBIs for Oakland, which has lost six straight road contests.
Athletics third baseman Scott Sizemore left the game in the fourth after taking a fastball from Porcello to his jaw and neck.
