Tigers 12, Angels 2
Rick Porcello pitched eight strong innings and Victor Martinez drove in four as the host Detroit Tigers bounced back with a 12-2 victory over the Los Angeles Angels on Friday.
Carlos Guillen added four RBIs and Brennan Boesch hit a solo homer for the Tigers, who had lost two in a row and four of their previous six.
Maicer Izturis led off the game with a home run, but Porcello (11-6) quickly settled down, allowing two runs on five hits in matching his longest outing of the season. The 22-year-old righthander has won five straight starts, posting a 3.06 ERA over that span.
Tyler Chatwood matched Porcello through the first five innings but fell apart in the sixth as Detroit rallied for four runs. Martinez kicked off the rally with an RBI single and Guillen tripled in a pair. Chatwood (6-7) was charged with a career-high six earned runs on eight hits.
The Tigers opened it up in the late innings, pushing two runs across in the seventh and four more in the eighth.
