Dodgers 6, Braves 1
Jon Garland pitched a four-hitter, and Juan Uribe and Andre Ethier were a combined 6-for-8 and drove in all of Los Angeles’ runs as the host Dodgers topped the Atlanta Braves 6-1 on Wednesday night.
Garland (1-1), whose ERA fell nearly seven runs to 4.15, walked two and struck out four, and helped offset the jarring news Wednesday that Major League Baseball had taken over operation of the Dodgers.
Los Angeles got going early against Atlanta starter Derek Lowe and jumped to a 2-0 lead on a two-run single by Uribe in the first inning. Uribe singled home two more runs in the second inning, and Ethier hit his second home run of the season in the fourth to put Los Angeles ahead 6-1.
With his 3-for-4 performance, Ethier extended his career-high hitting streak to 17 games. Lowe (2-3) lasted only three innings, and allowed five runs and nine hits.
Martin Prado had a sacrifice fly in the second for Atlanta.
