Braves 4, Giants 1
Tommy Hanson pitched seven solid innings and Chipper Jones delivered a two-run double during a four-run third inning to lead the Atlanta Braves to a 4-1 victory over the host San Francisco Giants on Friday.
Hanson (2-3) allowed one run and three hits in seven innings. He struck out seven and walked one.
Jonny Venters pitched a perfect eighth and Craig Kimbrel retired the Giants in order in the ninth for his fifth save.
Jason Heyward singled in a run prior to Jones’ two-run double to right. Jones scored on Freddie Freeman’s single to center.
San Francisco got on the board in the seventh when Pablo Sandoval doubled with one out, moved to third on a wild pitch and scored on Pat Burrell’s groundout.
Heyward and Freeman each had two hits for the Braves.
The Giants' Madison Bumgarner (0-3) lasted only 2 2/3 innings as his ERA climbed to 7.79.
