Diamondbacks 2, Braves 1
Josh Collmenter threw six scoreless innings, Chris Young belted a solo homer and the Arizona Diamondbacks went on to record a 2-1 victory over the visiting Atlanta Braves on Thursday night.
Arizona has now won five of its last six, while Atlanta has dropped two straight.
Collmenter (3-0) allowed two hits with no walks and a strikeout. The bullpen made it stand, although the Braves scored an unearned run in the ninth off closer J.J. Putz, who earned his 10th save of the season.
Atlanta starter Jair Jurrjens (5-1) pitched well, allowing two runs on eight hits with a walk and three strikeouts over 6 2/3 innings.
His lone mistakes came in the sixth. Young took him deep and then Juan Miranda came through with an RBI triple.
Brian McCann scored on a fielding error as the Braves avoided the shutout in the ninth inning.
