Angels 9, Braves 0
Ervin Santana pitched his first shutout of the season and Mark Trumbo hit a three-run homer as the Los Angeles Angels crushed the visiting Atlanta Braves 9-0 on Friday.
Alberto Callaspo added two hits and two RBIs, and Bobby Abreu doubled in a run for the Angels, who moved back to .500 at 23-23.
Santana (2-4) allowed four hits and struck out seven in his first complete game of the season. The 28-year old righthander pitched four complete games in 2010, the last coming in a shutout against Texas on Sept. 21.
Tim Hudson (4-4) was not quite as sharp for the Braves. The veteran righthander did not make it through the fourth and was charged with eight runs on seven hits in 3 2/3 innings.
Anaheim broke out for six runs in the third, capped by Trumbo’s three-run blast.
Hudson hit the first two batters of the fourth and walked another to load the bases. He struck out Torii Hunter before Callaspo ended his night with a two-run single to left.
