Angels 4, Braves 1
Tyler Chatwood pitched seven strong innings and Torii Hunter hit a two-run homer as the Los Angeles Angels took out the visiting Atlanta Braves, 4-1, in the finale of their inter-league series on Sunday.
Bobby Abreu added an RBI double and rookie Alexi Amarista chipped in his first career RBI on a groundout for the Angels.
Chatwood (3-2), who had been lit up for five earned runs in 2 1/3 innings last time out, cruised on Sunday, striking out six and walking a pair while allowing five hits. The 21-year old rookie yielded his lone run on an RBI single by Joe Mather in the second and surrendered only one hit after the third.
Scott Downs pitched the eighth and Jordan Walden worked the ninth for his eighth save.
Anaheim took the lead in the fourth when Hunter reached Atlanta starter Derek Lowe (3-4) for his fifth homer of the season.
The Braves had to amend their lineup before they even came to bat on Sunday after center fielder and leadoff hitter Nate McLouth left the game with an oblique strain just four pitches into the top of the first.
