Mets 5, Braves 0
New York’s Dillon Gee pitched seven scoreless innings and improved his record to 6-0 Saturday as the Mets beat Atlanta 5-0 at Citi Field.
Gee scattered four hits and struck out a pair to outduel Atlanta ace Jair Jurrjens (7-2) and win his fourth consecutive start. Pedro Beato and Tim Byrdak pitched the final two innings to seal the shutout.
Jurrjens allowed four runs, three earned, in 6 1/3 innings in his least effective start of the year.
The Mets broke open a scoreless tie by pushing five runs across in the seventh inning, a rally that began when Atlanta shortstop Alex Gonzalez made an error on a ball hit by Jason Bay.
He was driven in on a single by Jason Pridie and Jose Reyes put the game away with a bases-loaded triple, his league-leading 10th of the season.
