Braves 5, Rockies 3

Derek Lowe provided his own run support with a bases-loaded double and won his second straight start as the host Atlanta Braves defeated the Colorado Rockies 5-3 on Tuesday night.

Lowe ripped a liner down the third base line off Jhoulys Chacin (8-5) with two outs in the fourth inning to drive in the first three runs of the game. Chacin allowed four runs, four hits and six walks in five innings.

Lowe (5-6) pitched 5 1/3 innings and allowed three runs, five hits and walked three. Lowe also struck out four, including the 1,600th of his career. Craig Kimbrel pitched a scoreless ninth to earn his 26th save and tie a major league record for saves by a rookie prior to the All-Star Game.

Atlanta also got solo home runs from Freddie Freeman - his 12th of the season and third in the last two games - and Dan Uggla, his 13th which was measured at 426 feet.

Mark Ellis went 3-for-4 for Colorado and is 11-for-22 in five games with the Rockies since he was acquired from Oakland.
