Braves 6, Rockies 3
Rookie Freddie Freeman went 3-for-4 and hit his fourth homer in his last four games to spark Atlanta's 6-3 win over Colorado, as the Braves completed a four-game sweep at Turner Field.
Freeman's two-run homer, his 13th, was an opposite-field blast to left-center that capped a five-run rally in the third inning and enabled the Braves to finish their homestand at 9-1 and sweep a four-game series with Colorado for the first time since May 1993. Jason Heyward added a solo homer, his ninth, in the fifth inning.
The offense supported Tim Hudson (8-6), who allowed three runs in 7 1/3 innings and won his third straight game. Craig Kimbrel pitched a scoreless ninth to earn his 27th save and set a major league record for saves by a rookie prior to the All-Star Game.
The losing pitcher was rookie Juan Nicasio (3-2), who gave up five runs on seven hits in 3 1/3 innings, his shortest outing of the season.
Colorado's injury situation got worse when outfielder Charlie Blackmon fractured his foot while going from first to third base in the third inning. The Rockies were already playing without starting outfielder Carlos Gonzalez and shortstop Troy Tulowitzki.
