Braves 1, Diamondbacks 0
Tim Hudson pitched seven shutout innings and Alex Gonzalez homered in the third inning as the Atlanta Braves edged the visiting Arizona Diamondbacks 1-0 Sunday to complete a three-game sweep.
Hudson (13-7) allowed just three hits and struck out seven to win his fourth straight decision and eighth in his last nine. He is 6-0 lifetime against the Diamondbacks, who have dropped five in a row.
The loss trimmed the Diamondbacks' lead over San Francisco to 1 1/2 games atop the National League West. The Giants beat Houston 6-4 in 11 innings.
Arizona had its best chance to score in the sixth when Kelly Johnson led off with a triple. After Hudson induced a ground out, Johnson tried to score on a Chris Young foul out but was thrown out at the plate by first baseman Freddie Freeman.
Craig Kimbrel struck out the final two batters with two runners on base for his 39th save.
Arizona starter Josh Collmenter (7-8) allowed just four hits and a run over seven innings. Collmenter has given up just six hits and one run in 13 innings against the Braves this season.
