Braves 3, Cubs 0
Jair Jurrjens broke out of a recent slump with 6 1/3 scoreless innings to lift the Atlanta Braves to a 3-0 road win over the Chicago Cubs on Monday night.
Freddie Freeman and Dan Uggla hit solo home runs to power the Braves to their fifth consecutive victory and give them an 8 1/2-game cushion in the NL wild card race.
Jurrjens (13-5) walked five and allowed eight hits but kept Chicago off the scoreboard before relievers Arodys Vizcaino, Eric O'Flaherty and Jonny Venters held the Cubs to one hit the rest of the way.
Venters worked around a pair of walks in the ninth to earn his fifth save.
Ryan Dempster (10-9) took the loss for Chicago, allowing three runs on six hits in six innings. He finished with eight strikeouts and walked three.
