Marlins 6, Pirates 0
Ricky Nolasco followed up Josh Johnson’s dominating performance with one of his own when he stymied the Pittsburgh Pirates for seven shutout innings as the host Florida Marlins cruised to a 6-0 victory on Wednesday.
Chris Coghlan drove in three runs, and Emilio Bonifacio had an RBI and a run scored for the Marlins, who have won five of their last six.
Nolasco (2-0) allowed four hits, walked one and struck out eight in his strongest outing of the young season. Johnson allowed two hits and struck out nine in seven shutout innings Tuesday.
Florida got to Charlie Morton (2-1) in the second when it pushed across four runs to give Nolasco more than enough support. Coghlan started the rally with a two-run single and Hanley Ramirez added an RBI.
The Marlins tacked on two more in the third on RBI singles by Coghlan and Bonifacio.
