Marlins 9, Reds 5

Five players homered for the Marlins on Sunday, as they beat the Cincinnati Reds 9-5, giving Florida a series win in the three-game set at Great American Ball Park.

Florida has not lost a series since dropping two of three to the Mets to start the season.

All of the scoring came via home runs until the Reds' Chris Heisey hit a two-run double in the ninth. Cincinnati had the tying run at the plate in the ninth, but Leo Nunez recorded the final two outs for his ninth save.

The teams traded homers early on, with Hanley Ramirez hitting his first to put Florida ahead 2-0 in the first inning and Jay Bruce tying it in the bottom of the inning with his fifth of the year.

The Marlins regained the lead on Greg Dobbs' second of the season, a solo shot in the second, but Brandon Phillips' fourth home run tied it again in the sixth.

Florida hit a power surge in the late innings, though, as John Buck's third homer made it 5-3 in the seventh. Mike Stanton added to the lead with his third, a solo shot in the eight, and Emilio Bonifacio tacked on a three-run blast later in the inning.

The homer was Bonifacio's first since 2009 and his second in 1,000 career plate appearances.

Marlins starter Ricky Nolasco (3-0) allowed three runs on six hits over seven innings for the win.

Bronson Arroyo (3-3) took the loss, giving up five runs on seven hits over seven innings. He surrendered three of Florida's five home runs; the other two came against reliever Nick Masset.
