Phillies 14, Marlins 2

Ryan Howard had four hits - including a two-run homer - and drove in four runs as the visiting Philadelphia Phillies cruised to their seventh consecutive victory over the Florida Marlins, 14-2 on Tuesday night.

Jimmy Rollins also had four hits and scored three runs, and Raul Ibanez belted a two-run homer and had four RBIs for Philadelphia, which banged out 18 hits en route to its 20th win in its last 25 contests in Miami.

The offensive outburst was certainly welcomed by Cole Hamels (10-4), who received only three runs of support in his last three outings. The lefthander allowed two runs and eight hits in eight innings.

With the Phillies holding a 5-0 advantage in the fourth, Howard launched his second two-run homer off Chris Volstad (4-8) in as many outings.

Volstad was torched by Philadelphia for the second straight start. The righthander, who yielded seven runs on nine hits in four innings on Tuesday, permitted eight runs and 10 hits in a 9-1 loss on June 14.

John Buck belted a two-run homer in the fourth for Florida, which has dropped 14 of its last 16 at home.
