Marlins 6, Cubs 3
A three-run pinch-hit double by Greg Dobbs keyed a ninth-inning blitz as the Florida Marlins rallied for their sixth consecutive victory with a 6-3 road win over the Chicago Cubs on Thursday.
The Marlins had been stifled all night long before Chicago closer Carlos Marmol (2-3) walked three straight batters on just 13 pitches to load the bases with no outs in the top of the ninth inning.
Dobbs followed with a double into the right-field corner to give Florida a 3-2 lead. The Marlins capped their six-run frame with Gaby Sanchez's sacrifice fly and RBI singles by Hanley Ramirez and Mike Cameron.
Edward Mujica (7-2) got the win for the Marlins after retiring the final batter in the eighth inning. The Cubs managed one run against Leo Nunez in the bottom of the ninth. Florida starter Anibal Sanchez allowed two runs on four hits in 6 1/3 innings.
Marmol's blown save, his seventh of the year and second in his last three appearances, took a win away from Cubs starter Matt Garza, who scattered six hits and three walks over seven shutout innings.
Sean Marshall pitched a scoreless eighth for Chicago, which took a 1-0 lead on Marlon Byrd's second-inning homer and scored again in the seventh when rookie Darwin Barney was hit by Steve Cishek's pitch with the bases loaded.
