Marlins 2, Giants 1

Ricky Nolasco outdueled Matt Cain for the second time this season to help the Florida Marlins snap a seven-game losing streak with a 2-1 victory over the visiting San Francisco Giants on Friday.

Nolasco (9-8) allowed one run and six hits in eight innings and struck out four to win for the third time in four starts. He improved to 4-2 against the Giants and lowered his ERA to 1.61 in six starts against them.

Pablo Sandoval homered in the first for the Giants, whose last 20 home runs have been solo shots, the longest such streak in major league history. The 1914 Philadelphia Phillies hit 19 straight.

Cain (9-9) has lost three straight starts despite allowing two runs or fewer in two of them. He gave up two runs over six innings Friday. The Giants have scored two runs or less in each of Cain's last five outings.

Both Florida runs came in the first when Logan Morrison had an RBI triple and scored on Mike Stanton's single.

The Giants, who fell two games behind Arizona in the National League West, have lost 11 of 14 and averaged 2.2 runs per game during that stretch.
