Rockies 12, Marlins 5
Chris Iannetta and Carlos Gonzalez each knocked in four runs, and Aaron Cook took a shutout into the eighth inning as the Colorado Rockies cruised to a 12-5 victory over the visiting Florida Marlins on Wednesday.
Iannetta’s three-run double capped a five-run first inning and Gonzalez belted a three-run homer as the Rockies added six more in the third. Gonzalez has four homers in his last six games.
Cook (3-7), who also had an RBI single, allowed three runs in 7 2/3 innings. He gave up a solo homer to Jose Lopez and a two-run blast by Mike Stanton in the eighth. It was Stanton’s fourth consecutive game with a home run.
Dexter Fowler added two hits and three runs for the Rockies, who won two of three in the series.
Ricky Nolasco (9-9), who came into the game 5-0 against the Rockies and 3-0 at Coors Field, set a franchise record for most runs given up by a starter when he allowed 11 runs in three innings.
Nolasco, though, struck out two to tie Dontrelle Willis as the Marlins’ all-time strikeout leader with 757.
