Mets 6, Angels 1

Mike Pelfrey pitched his first complete game in nearly three years, and Carlos Beltran homered and drove in three runs as the host New York Mets defeated the Los Angeles Angels 6-1 on Saturday.

Jason Bay added two hits and an RBI, and Jose Reyes scored a pair of runs for the Mets, who snapped a two-game losing streak.

Pelfrey (4-5), who set down the first nine batters he faced, allowed five hits and struck out five. The righthander needed 123 pitches - 83 strikes - to get through his first complete game since August 25, 2008.

New York got to Dan Haren (6-5) in the third when it pushed a run across on Beltran’s RBI single to center. The Mets added two more in the fourth and broke it open with three runs in the fifth, capped by Beltran’s two-run blast - his 10th of the season.

The Angels broke up the shutout with Mark Trumbo’s solo homer in the sixth.
