Josh Outman pitched six strong innings and Jemile Weeks scored three runs as the visiting Oakland Athletics won their sixth straight, 7-3 over the New York Mets on Tuesday.
Conor Jackson drove in a pair and Ryan Sweeney had four hits and an RBI for the Athletics, who improved to 7-4 under interim manager Bob Melvin.
Mets rookie Dillon Gee (8-1) had his command abandon him - he issued six walks and three hits which led to four runs in four innings.
Outman (3-1) recorded his fifth quality start in six tries since coming off the disabled list, allowing two runs - one earned - and four hits in six innings while striking out four.
Grant Balfour pitched the final 1 1/3 innings to earn his second save.
Oakland got it started right away, pushing two across in the first on a sacrifice fly and a groundout. Jackson drew a bases-loaded walk in the third before the Athletics finally recorded their first RBI hit - a bases-loaded single from Sweeney.
Jason Bay went 3-for-3 with two RBIs for the Mets, but the top four hitters in the lineup combined to go 1-for-18.
