Mets 5, Cubs 4

Justin Turner's two-out single in the ninth inning gave the New York Mets a 5-4 win over the visiting Chicago Cubs on Friday night.

Darwin Barney's two-out single in the top of the inning had tied the game, but Nick Evans started the winning rally with a single off Sean Marshall (6-6).

Evans took second on Josh Thole's sacrifice and, after Jose Reyes was intentionally walked. Turner hit a 1-0 pitch to deep center for the victory. He also had an RBI double in the fifth.

In the top of the ninth, Geovany Soto drew a one-out walk off Manny Acosta (3-1) and took second on Starlin Castro's single to left. Barney's single to center scored pinch-runner Lou Montanez.

Castro, who leads the National League in hits, was struck in the midsection by a pitch in the seventh, but remained in the game. He was 2-for-4 and extended his hitting streak to 11 games.

Chicago's Carlos Pena hit a two-run homer, his 27th, in the third.

Reyes extended his hitting streak to 12 games with a double in the fifth.
