Phillies 7, Pirates 3
Ryan Howard drove in three runs and Chase Utley had three singles to pace a 14-hit attack as the Philadelphia Phillies posted a 7-3 road triumph over the Pittsburgh Pirates on Sunday.
Raul Ibanez recorded his 1,000th career RBI with a sacrifice fly and Roy Halladay tossed seven strong innings for Philadelphia, which matched its entire run total during its four-game losing skid.
Howard launched a sacrifice fly in the fifth inning to tie the game at 2-2 and added RBI singles in the eighth and ninth to seal the win.
After Neil Walker belted a two-run homer in the first inning, Halladay (8-3) settled down to handcuff the Pirates. The reigning National League Cy Young Award winner allowed two runs on six hits while striking out six.
James McDonald (3-4) surrendered three runs on as many hits and walked five in four innings to take the loss.
The Pirates (28-30) were bidding to reach .500 after June 1 for the second time in 11 years.
