Rangers 11, Royals 6

Five different players hit home runs, and Michael Young added three hits and two RBIs as the Texas Rangers pounded out 15 hits en route to an 11-6 victory over the visiting Kansas City Royals on Friday.

Adrian Beltre hit his sixth homer - a solo blast in the sixth - and added an RBI double for the Rangers, who had dropped six of eight entering the series.

Texas wasted little time jumping on Jeff Francis (0-2), getting to the veteran lefthander for a run in the first on Young’s RBI single and adding four more in the third on an RBI triple from Young, Beltre’s double and a two-run shot by Mike Napoli.

Kansas City battled back against Derek Holland (3-1) when it pushed five runs across in the top of the fourth to tie it up, but the young lefthander settled down to strike out nine in seven innings.

The Rangers used the long ball to take control as Ian Kinsler homered in the fourth, David Murphy added a two-run blast in the fifth, and Beltre and Mitch Moreland chipped in solo shots in the sixth and seventh, respectively.

It marked Texas' biggest offensive explosion since a 12-5 win over Boston on opening weekend.
