Rangers 5, Royals 4 (11)

Adrian Beltre delivered a two-run single in the 11th inning and the visiting Texas Rangers held on for a 5-4 victory over the Kansas City Royals on Wednesday.

Endy Chavez led off the 11th with a walk and moved to second on Elvis Andrus’ sacrifice bunt. Ian Kinsler and Chris Davis both worked walks before Beltre singled up the middle to score Chavez and Kinsler.

Kansas City scored a run in the 11th on Brayan Pena’s single, but Mark Lowe kept Texas’ lead intact for his first save in a Rangers uniform.

Reliever Arthur Rhodes (2-2) earned the victory by getting the final two outs of the 10th inning.

Royals rookie Eric Hosmer sent the game into extra innings with a homer on the first pitch he saw from Rangers closer Neftali Feliz to tie it at 3-3 in the ninth. It was Feliz’s first blown save since Aug. 11, 2010.

Rangers starter Alexi Ogando turned in another quality start, allowing two runs on four hits with a walk and five strikeouts over seven innings.

Texas seemed to have the game in hand when Andrus brought in Craig Gentry with an RBI single in the ninth.

Kansas City had a chance in the 10th, loading the bases with one out, but Rhodes ended that threat by getting Melky Cabrera to pop up and Hosmer to fly out.

Royals starter Danny Duffy, making his big league debut, allowed two runs on four hits with six walks and four strikeouts over four innings. Kansas City reliever Jeremy Jeffress (1-1) took the loss.
