Angels 10, Royals 8
Joakim Soria blew it again.
With his team holding a one-run lead in the ninth Monday, the Royals closer coughed up three runs, including a go-ahead two-run shot by the Angels' Torii Hunter. Los Angeles won 10-8 to improve to 3-1 on its six-game road trip.
It was Soria's fifth blown save in 12 tries and another disheartening loss for the Royals, who were opening an 11-game homestand.
K.C. fell for the eighth time in nine games despite a two-run homer and two-run double from 21-year-old first baseman Eric Hosmer. He has five homers and 15 RBIs since being called up early this month.
The Angels trailed 8-5 in the eighth, then Mark Trumbo and Peter Bourjos homered off Louis Coleman to cut the deficit to one. That set the stage for another ninth-inning implosion by Soria (3-3).
Kevin Jepsen (1-2) got the win, and Fernando Rodney earned his third save.
